| The tail fins on the 1958 Continental were capped by chrome tips with plastic inserts. Interestingly, the plastic shows the Lincoln star rather than the Continental emblem. Since the 1958 Continental was added to the Lincoln lineup late in the game after a more expensive Mark III design proposal was scrapped, this may be a casualty of the blurring of Lincoln and Continental. The door sill plates on the '58 Continental also carry the Lincoln star. In 1959, the sill plates wore the Continental emblem, but the plastic inserts were eliminated in the fin caps for '59. |
