EV1 interior

This video demonstrates EV1 in motion from the interior of the car.

Notice the starting procedure: The EV1 does not use an ignition key. The driver punches in a custom 5-digit code - when the "valid code" lamp lights, the driver punches the "run" button. With the brake pedal depressed, the shifter is placed in "D" (drive) and presses the accelerator pedal as in a gasoline powered car. One big surprise: QUICK ACCELERATION!
From 0-60 in 8.5 sec. This is not a golf cart! In this demonstration in a residential area, the driver accelerates moderately from 0-40mph. Notice the EV1's unique sound. The sound of the tires on the road is more noticeable than the gentle whirring of the drive motor. Also notice that the EV1 has no transmission - the 137hp motor drives the wheels directly with very few moving parts - you won't hear the usual transmission shifting. We've amplified the volume on this video to
be sure you can hear everything - the actual sound in the EV1's cabin is somewhat quieter.

The video will begin to play after your hard drive has cached an adequate amount of material
to give uninterrupted playback. This time can vary due to loads on the internet, but has averaged 2-3 minutes
before playback begins. In the event that playback stops before the video finishes, wait a few moments
and playback will resume automatically.
